Netlog creates online media group Massive Media

Social networking site Netlog announces the beginning of a new chapter for the Ghent-based company. The Netlog site will become part of Massive Media, a global media group, focusing mainly on social media. In the course of the year the product portfolio will expand into new markets. In terms of shareholding, the current structure will remain unchanged.

The online gaming division Gatcha! is being structured into a separate business unit, headed by Simon Perry (46). Perry, formerly of Oberon Media (market leader in casual gaming), brings extensive gaming industry experience to the table. Gatcha! will continue to operate from Ghent, but will also open a New York office. Massive Media is also establishing an office in Dubai for continued business development in the MENA markets. Timothy Bataille (29) will be overlooking the Massive Media operations in this market.

“We mentioned last year that we dream about establishing a strong online media group, one that aims to bring people together in a way that is fun, simple and efficient”, says Lorenz Bogaert, co-founder and CEO of Massive Media. “In the last few months we’ve hired over 25 highly-educated employees, not only to improve our existing services, but also to help bring new projects into existence.”

For the time being no further information will be disclosed about these new projects.
